Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She was a reporter for the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In the following two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent by 1988. Mitchell became the Chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the debate in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her work in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first journalist to report on White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news issues, such as the weapons control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to many summits with the help of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
